the project
The machine was designed to remove waste material from a car dash board after the outer covering had been applied and confirm quality assurance on the finished product.
the solution
The completed machine was a dual function machine, the first operation was a quality check to ensure that the correct product with the correct parts was being processed using strict Poka Yoke guidelines imposed by the customers lean manufacturing technologies. On confirmation of correct assembly the components were clamped allowing the operator to proceed to the next operation where the machine punches out the pre-cut air vents and binnacle openings. This machine increased production, reduced manning and associated complex manual handling tasks whilst offering the additional guarantee of assembly quality allowing one operator to process the build stage that was previously carried out by two operators and a QA checker.
